The Power of the Spirit
The movement of First, Metis and Inuit Nations to re-affirm their sovereignty over their homeland beginning in the post-Second World War period and continuing to the present is a fascinating and compelling story. The rallying cry of ‘Indian Control of Indian Education’ touched the hearts of Indigenous people and other Canadians as children and mothers put their lives on the line as was the case in the creation of the Blue Quill School system in Alberta. This documentary focuses on the traditional teachings of First and Metis Nations during their heritage era (pre-colonization period), the residential school era and the current period.
